THIS CAMPAIGN:

What is the primary reason you are running for this office?

I believe that quality public education is fundamentally important to maintaining a healthy democracy. I serve, and am running to earn another term, so that I can have a direct influence in ensuring that each Skyline graduate is college ready (and other graduates of the Issaquah School District), that is, ready to succeed in college if she chooses that path, especially in relation to required math and science skills.

What will be your top three priorities if you get elected and why?

No. 1 is increasing student achievement at all levels in the district, so that each graduate leaves our district prepared to succeed at the next step she elects to take.

No. 2 is ensuring we remain fiscally responsible, especially in the face of declining revenues.

No. 3 is implementing frameworks to ensure that this higher achievement level (See No. 1, above) is sustainable beyond the time of my service.

What sets you apart from the other candidates and/or previous office holders?

In short: My experience. I have five years’ experience serving as a director and have proven that I can lead the board and the district.

How much money do you expect your campaign to spend on this election?

Less than $5,000.
