Update: Reichert Holds Solid Lead in 8th District Congressional Primary

Second day results are in for Washington voters in the 8th Congressional Primary, showing incumbent Dave Reichert strongly in the lead and most likely facing Karen Porterfield as a challenger in the November general election.

Update, Aug. 8: Dave Reichert holds his solid lead of 48.12 percent in the 8th District Congressional primary in Washington, with democrat Karen Porterfield holding the second position with 32.35 percent, making the two the likely candiates in the general election this fall.

Today, Aug. 8, Reichert hosted a , the Seattle Times reports.

So far, 22.43 percent of registered voters' votes have been counted.

As of 8 p.m., Aug. 7, Dave Reichert had a solid lead of 48.17 percent in the 8th District Congressional primary in Washington, with democrat Karen Porterfield holding the second position with 32.19 percent.

Reichert, who's district has been shifted East under redistricting, represents a more conservative area in the new schematic, and has challengers in this election, who grew up in Sammamish.

As of July 18, Reichert had raised $1.3 million for his reelection bid, according to the Federal Elections Commission.

As of Tuesday night, about 25 percent, or 280,621, of registered voter ballots had been verified, and an additional 73,456 were received by the county today.
