Local Congressman To Rappel Down Seattle Skyscraper for Special Olympics

Eighth US District Congressman Dave Reichert (R-Auburn), long a supporter of the Special Olympics, will help raise money to support participating athletes.

Over the Edge, a Seattle-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping raise money for Washington’s Special Olympics, announced it is sending local congressmen Dave Reichert "over the edge" and rappelling down a 40-story building in downtown Seattle during on Aug. 10 and 11.

Reichert said he was willing to take on more than the 490 feet to raise money for charity to help fund over 10,000 Special Olympics athletes, according to Q13 Fox News Seattle.

Participants must raise $1,000 to go over the edge, and $650 will support a Special Olympics athlete for an entire year.
