Update: Power Back on to Issaquah Power Customers

Puget Sound Energy says customers affected should have their power back on now, after an underground distribution cable went out to the neighborhood of about 800 residents.

Update Aug. 3, 8:20 p.m.: Puget Sound Energy says it has restored power to local customers after identifying a bad underground distribution cable. PSE spokeswoman Julia Hughes said power starts at tranmission lines with relatively high voltage, then "steps down" to a 55 volt distribution system to deliver power to individual neighborhoods, and it appears that distribution system was affected.

Power crews switched those residents to a working line, and are fixing the problem, Hughes said.

The company will be able to switch those customers to an alternate switch once the problem is located, Hughes says.
