Public Hearing on Central Issaquah Plan Slated for Oct. 11

The city will hold a public hearing on proposed and use designations; zoning; development and design standards; SEPA changes; and planned action ordinance on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m.

For more than five years, the City has been developing a Central Issaquah Plan (CIP) that will guide the long-term evolution of our commercial core from a collection of strip malls, parking lots and office buildings into a more sustainable urban area that will meet our community’s needs for environmental protection, jobs, housing and transit.

Along with neighboring communities, Issaquah is mandated to accept new growth in the coming decades. By focusing that growth to its 1,100-acre commercial core, this plan is Issaquah’s opportunity to create a vibrant urban center, while also protecting current neighborhoods and environment.

As a next step, the Planning Policy Commission will be hosting a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 on the proposed land use designations; zoning; development and design standards; environmental (SEPA) changes; and planned action ordinance. These proposals may change as a result of the public review process.
