Ramiro Valderrama Named New Sammamish Deputy Mayor

Valderrama takes over the position from councilmember John James, who served a one-year term.

Sammamish City Councilman Ramiro Valderrama was named deputy mayor Jan. 8 by the Sammamish City Council. Valderrama was sworn in as a councilmember one year ago.

On a unanimous vote, the City Council elected Ramiro Valderrama to serve a one-year term as deputy mayor. He takes the place of John James, the outgoing deputy mayor who also served a one-year term.

In Sammamish, the mayor (currently Tom Odell) serves a two-year term while the deputies serve for only one year.

Having a fiscally responsible deputy mayor is excellent news.
