Sammamish Prop. 1 Advisory Vote a Close One

Approval of an advisory vote on a proposed Community & Aquatic Center is leading by about 3 percent in early returns.

So far, the margin on an advisory vote for a proposed Sammamish Community and Aquatic Center is a slim one, with 6,806 votes, or 51.09 percent, for moving ahead and 6,514 votes, or 48.9 percent, against.

So far, about 65 percent of ballots for the proposition have been verified as returned to King County.

Most Sammamish City Councilmembers have said they would honor the outcome of the advisory vote, though they expressed concern about misleading advertisements by opponents of the measure.

Updated results from King County will be posted tomorrow, Nov. 7 at 4:30 p.m.

Considering that only 13k people voted out of approx 45k residents, once again the sheep of sammamish let 25 million be given away for a pool. I have to believe we could have done it for 3m.

Thanks for your comment, over50voter, but please be sure to note that these are numbers on initial ballots that had been counted by last night right after polling ended. The numbers will be updated through the coming days, beginning around 6:30 tonight.

What a shame if Prop 1 goes thru. what a waste of our taxpayers $$$'s and it is ridiculous that our City council would gift 25 million to the YMCA why are they calling it a community center. And why did the city council not put this out for bid and ignore a public bid by our own citys Athletic Club owner to build a new facility and pay for it himself. The city of Newcastle has a brand new huge YMCA they received no funds $$$$'s from the city of Newcastle why are we gifting 25 million? What will be left in our rainy day fund but 0..... Signed a concerned citizen who does not respect our own City council
