Special Filing Period to Open for Issaquah, Sammamish-Area Fire District Commissioner

A special three-day filing period will open for a fire commissioner to serve on the board of King County Fire Protection District No. 10, because no one filed in May, the King County Elections department announced.

A special three-day filing period will open for fire commissioner on the board of King County Fire Protection District No. 10 because no one filed in May, the King County Elections department announced.

The opening is for fire commissioner, position 3, one of five elected commissioners that manages operations in Fire District No. 10, whose territory includes nearly all of unincorporated Issaquah, Carnation and Lake Joy. Commissioner John Magee, who was first appointed in 2003 and ran unopposed in 2003 and 2007, will step down at the end of the year.

Elected fire commissioners serve a 6-year term, and earn an annual maximum stipend of $10,944.

The commissioner's seat is one of the 11 positions in King County that didn't have a candidate who filed. The full list of positions is posted below.

The special filing period begins Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, according to the King County Elections department. There will be no filing fee for these positions.
