Traffic Alert: I-405 Nighttime Lane Closures This Weekend Around SR 522
Up to three southbound I-405 lanes could be closed Saturday night from NE 128th in Kirkland north past SR 522. The work is part of the on-going project to widen I-405 and add express toll lanes.
Heads up: Work will commence Saturday night on one of the state's busiest freeways — Interstate 405 — with up to three southbound lanes being closed from State Route 522 to NE 128th Street.
The construction zones on I-405 in Kirkland and Bothell will have wide-ranging traffic impacts across the Eastside and into Seattle.
Crews will also close up to two lanes of southbound I-405 between NE 195th Street and SR 522.
The closures will begin starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, and all lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Sunday.
The work is part of an on-going project to widen and add express toll lanes to I-405. According to the Washington Department of Transportation:
“Crews are working to add a temporary on-ramp to northbound I-405 from NE 160th Street. While drivers use the temporary on-ramp, crews will build a new braided northbound I-405 on-ramp from NE 160th Street. The new ramp will separate drivers getting onto northbound I-405 at NE 160th Street from northbound I-405 drivers headed to SR 522. The new ramp will be open to traffic in 2015.”
