Yes or No to Sammamish Community Center? Meeting Tonight at EX3

The Citizens for Sammamish is hosting a meeting to discuss the community center issue and upcoming advisory vote, with parties from various sides of the issue to speak and answer questions.

Citizens for Sammamish is hosting a community meeting tonight, Monday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at the EX3 Teen Center in Sammamish to hear both sides of the issue of a new multi-purpose community center, which will be up for an advisory vote in the November election. Recently while another group has set up a site in opposition of the project.

The meeting is open to all. Speakers and guests will be on hand as Jim Osgood moderates the "pros" and "cons" from participants and entertains questions from the audience.

The measure that will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot is an β€œadvisory” vote, intended to give the Sammamish City Council a sense of how voters in Sammamish feel about the potential construction of a community and aquatic center in Sammamish.

Among other things, the proposed community and aquatic center would include a leisure pool, lap pool, jogging track, weights, two gymnasiums, cardio and group fitness space, multipurpose rooms, locker rooms, a child-watch area and on-site parking.Β  The estimated building size: 60,000 square feet.
