Callan Jumps Into Issaquah School Board Race

Grand Ridge PTSA board member Lisa Callan will run against incumbent Alison Meryweather for the Director Position 4 race.

Issaquah resident Lisa Callan officially filed as a candidate for Issaquah School District, Director District 4 position Friday, May 17, according to a press release.

The Grand Ridge Elementary School PTSA board member said she is grateful that families and taxpayers in this district nurture and invest in education and — with her own son a student at Grand Ridge — said she has the best of all reasons to lead educational programs and opportunities in our Issaquah public schools.

"She grew up in a family of educators and leaders," a press release stated. "She is passionate about quality teaching and learning, and believes strongly in public schools and community values that support student success. Lisa knows how to make smart decisions, be fiscally responsible, and consider the needs of all kids. Schools are where our children discover who they are, who they want to become, and that learning is a lifelong journey."

Callan has served on many community and professional boards, committees, and teams. She was instrumental in building a cultural diversity council at Grand Ridge Elementary, and is a PTSA board member.

Callan earned a B.S. in Mathematics and Science from Northern Arizona University, worked for Boeing for 14 years, then as a Software Development Project Management Consultant. Since her son was born, Lisa has been a community and school volunteer.
