Don't bicker about whether it should be spelled "ketchup" or "catsup." If you like mustard, that's good - but this is a ketchup contest.

Now, if Kim's design is selected as the finalist, Cascade Ridge Elementary will receive - and get ready for this - $1,000 worth of ketchup and $1,000 worth of art supplies, according to the school.

We know: Nice -- especially, the next time the school has a hot dog or hamburger event.

The school said his drawing was selected from among thousands of entries. Student designs that are among the top 12 in votes will become finalists. Kim is a student in teacher Ilene DeRemer's class.

Get ready, too, because here's a ketchup math question: In October 2009, the school had 558 students.

What is the average dollar amount of ketchup that each child could have given the $1,000 worth of the good stuff (that would be the ketchup)?

We at Sammamish Patch would love to see $1,000 worth of ketchup (it's history, you know) in person.

In fact, if $10,000 worth of ketchup was available, we'd love to see that, too.
