Eastlake Football Tabs Don Bartel for 2013 Coach Position

The Wolves Athletic program announced Bartel's selection via Twitter Thursday evening.

The Eastlake High School Athletic program let the cat out of the bag Thursday evening, tweeting that Don Bartel will take on the role of head football coach for the 2013-2014 season.

Eastlake's former head coach, Gene Dales, citing personal issues that he said kept him from giving his best to the team. The Wolves finished last season 4-6.

Bartel, a Central Washington University grad and the defensive coordinator for Skyline High School's state championship team in 2012, will meet with next season's wolves next week, Eastlake said in the tweet. Bartel had coached just one season at Skyline.

Bartel recently returned from the where he served as the All-American West linebacker coach.

Bartel graduated from Orting High School, where he played quarterback and other offensive positions in addition to linebacker, cornerback and safety, before joining the coaching staff at WA State University and four seasons as the head coach at Enumclaw.
