Eastlake Teacher Named “Rookie Teacher of the Year”

Eastlake High teacher Scott Petersen was awarded the Washington Industrial Technology Education Association (WITEA) Rookie Teacher of the Year award on March 15.

Scott Petersen, a first year Technology Education teacher at Eastlake High School, was awarded the Washington Industrial Technology Education Association (WITEA) Rookie Teacher of the Year award on March 15 in Wenatchee.

According to a school district newsletter, the LWSD praised Petersen for his extremely competent, committed professionalism and strong technical and leadership skills.

"Scott demonstrates a very high level of enthusiasm and has taken the lead to update the Technology Education Program at Eastlake," the newsletter said. "He has a strong work ethic and is determined to meet student needs. Scott recognizes the talents of his students and encourages them in their assignments to bring out their strengths."
