's incoming superintendent announced a new Central Leadership Team for the 2012-2013 school year. The changes go into effect July 1.
The Central Leadership team is a group of administrators that supports the strategic work of the district, according to a LWSD news release. Next year's team will be divided into three sections: operational services, student and school support services, and student and professional learning services.
The changes will not have any financial impact on the district, according to the news release.

Dr. Pierce described the changes to the structure as having several purposes, including strengthening professional learning support systems. Professional development for staff has been cut back in past budget cuts. This new structure also integrates technology into student and professional learning functions, to provide better instruction. There is also a new emphasis on intervention programs, creating a new position to focus on those efforts.
Operational Services will continue to be led by Deputy Superintendent Janene Fogard. This area includes business services, facilities and transportation, communications and human resources. Technology operations moves into this division.
Student and School Support Services will be led by Assistant Superintendent Heather Sinclair, who currently serves as the director of school support for the Juanita Learning Community. (The district is divided into four learning communities, one for each of the four comprehensive high schools.) This division is made up of the directors of school support who work directly with principals in support of their schools as well as the special education director and assistant directors, who lead the special education efforts in the schools. Dale Cote, principal of Meadowdale High School in Edmonds, returns to Lake Washington School District to fill the director of school support for the Juanita Learning Community position. He was previously assistant principal at Kirkland Junior High and Lake Washington High School.
Assistant Superintendent Matt Manobianco, currently the director of curriculum & standards, will lead the Student and Professional Learning Services division. He will oversee the curriculum, assessment and professional development areas. Kelly Pease, currently director of school support for the Redmond Learning Community, will take on a new role as director of intervention programs. This position brings a focus on district programs such as safety net, English Language Learner and other support programs for students. The technology integration staff will also be part of this division. Jon Holmen, currently a special education coordinator, moves into Ms. Pease’s director of school support position for next year.
