LWSD Encourages Students to Wear Orange in Support of Anti-Bullying Campaign

Wednesday, Oct. 10, is Unity Day, a national bullying prevention effort.

The Lake Washington School District is encouraging students to wear orange Wednesday in support of Unity Day, a national bullying prevention campaign.

LWSD used Facebook and Twitter to post reminders about Unity Day, which calls on students from all over the country to support those who have been bullied by wearing orange, writing the word "unity" on their hands and notebooks and participating in classroom discussions about bullying prevention.

The day-long campaign is part of National Bullying Prevention Month, a campaign organized by the Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights (PACER). As part of its outreach efforts, PACER offers a variety of online resources for bullying prevention to students, parents and educators.

Do you think bullying is a problem in the Lake Washington School District? Will your student be wearing orange tomorrow? Tell us in the comments section.
