Pine Lake Middle School's Jan Bennett is Retiring on Friday - Her School Wishes her the Best

Her involvement with the Issaquah School District goes back decades.

Editor's note: This note of appreciation is from Roy Adler, principal of Pine Lake Middle School.

Jan Bennett, Attendance Secretary, is retiring from Pine Lake this Friday, May 20th.

Jan’s involvement as a parent and employee in our district goes back decades.

She was a founding member of Discovery’s Site Council, served as the very first PTSA president at Endeavor and earned Golden Acorns at three different Issaquah District schools for her involvement with PTSA and school activities: Endeavor, Issaquah High and Pine Lake. She has served on numerous district committees including the freshman campus feasibility and boundary review.

Jan began her career in education as a K-3 teacher in Wisconsin and Michigan.  At Pine Lake, Jan served as an Educational Assistant, Support Secretary, and for the past 10 years, as our Attendance Secretary. The positive relationships Jan has formed with our students and families have helped to maintain that “special” feeling at PLMS. Our students, staff and parents know what we’re talking about here.

Jan was a regular at every home track meet, working the shot put station and at the scorers/clock table every sports season after school. Going the extra mile was part of her daily routine.

Saying we will miss her falls far short of the emotions we feel losing this extraordinary member of our team.

We wish Jan a healthy and most well deserved retirement, even though we know she won’t rest.  Her involvement with Habitat for Humanity, Issaquah Food Bank, Congregations for the Homeless and new projects already in the works will more than consume her newfound freedom.

Best of luck, Jan, and THANK YOU for a job well done !

Principal
