Skyline Athletes Headed to State Competitions

Here's the lowdown on Spartan athletes moving on to state competition this weekend, and links to how you can go cheer them on.

athletes are wrapping up their winter seasons this week, with a number of students and teams headed to state competition. Here's a roundup from Skyline High School, with links to upcoming events:

Skyline Boys and Girls Basketball played in the Kingco Tournament on Friday and Saturday. While they both lost and the boys had a tough end to their season, the girls are still alive and will play Tuesday at 3:00 at Juanita High School vs Newport. 

Skyline Boys Swim and Dive competed at Districts at UW. Here are the swimmers who are moving on to State this Saturday at Federal Way:

  • Alec Raines
  • Max Levy—Levy's diving score was the best score in the state and a new school record.
  • All three relay teams will also be competing at state, for a total of 14 athletes. 

Skyline Wrestling competed in Regionals at Rogers High School. Wrestlers moving on to State on Saturday at the Tacoma Dome are:

  • Ian Crouch
  • Michael Mecham
  • Griffin Howlett
  • Joseph DeMatteo
  • Tristan Steciw
  • Kara Alden    

Skyline Cheer capped off the weekend for the Spartans at Nationals in Florida. Skyline Green had their best performance of the year and fell just short of making the semifinals. Skyline Silver, competing in the non-tumbling division, made it to the finals and finished 7th in the nation! Watch their performances here.

Skyline Gymnastics capped off a great season with 6 gymnasts competing at districts.
