Video: Skyline High School Students Win MOHAI/SIFF Film Award With 'History Is __ Our Story'

The students included thoughts from their classmates and a teacher on the topic.

Two students - Ashwathi Raj and Tony Elevathingal - have won first place in a MOHAI/SIFF short film contest for their piece on history, their school announced Tuesday in its newsletter.

The students received the "Best Youth Film Winner" award. Their film - one of many in the short films category - will be shown at the Seattle International Film Festival, which runs from May 19 to June 12.

We, here at Sammamish Patch, have always liked history and thought that the students' creative take on the topic - as well as insight from their classmates - is worth talking about.

Of course, since Sammamish Patch has its regular feature that honors students each week, we would like to say congratulations to Raj and Elevathingal.

Among the people in their short film is Paul Doran, a Skyline High School teacher who was nominated for a SAMMI Award in March.
