Eastlake 11/12 All-Stars Win District 9 Tournament

The Sammamish-based Little League Baseball All-Star team will head to Vancouver, WA next weekend to play in the state tournament, starting July 13.

Eastlake Little League's 11/12 All-Stars defeated local rival Mercer Island twice on their way to clinching the District 9 title and a berth at the state tournament in Vancouver this weekend.

The 11- and 12-year-old players earned a decisive 5-0 shutout Monday night against Mercer Island in the District 9 championship game at Issaquah's Dodd Field.

Eastlake defeated Mercer Island earlier in the tournament, 6-4, on a walk-off home run by Nate Fitzgibbons on Saturday, July 8.

Fitzgibbons set the tone Monday night at his first at-bat when he belted a deep shot to the outfield to get on base, followed in later innings with a triple by Will Armbruester and a home run by Jacob Dahlstrom  (who also went 3 for 3).

The team made very few errors with strong defensive play by the team's pitchers and infielders — in particular infielders Dalton Chandler and Dylan Matsuoka.
