Eastlake Lacrosse Coach Named to Lead 2013 Champion All-American Showcase Team

Chris O'Dougherty was one of 14 coaches nationwide chosen to lead all-star teams for the prep lacrosse tournament, a part of the 2013 Champion ESPN Games.

SAMMAMISH, Wash. — Eastlake High School lacrosse coach Chris O’Dougherty has been named by US Lacrosse to lead one of eight boys teams at its 2013 Champion All-American Showcase national prep all-star tournament taking place this week.

Featuring 200 of the top high school lacrosse players in the U.S., the annual event is a part of the 2013 Champion ESPN Games. The boys event takes place July 25-26 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

O’Dougherty, a stand-out defenseman in the National Lacrosse League and first-year head coach at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, was selected as one of the top 16 boys and girls prep coaches in the country by the US Lacrosse men’s game coaches subcommittee after being nominated by the national governing body’s area chair.

He led Eastlake Lacrosse to a winning season (10-7) and the state quarterfinal (losing to 2013 state champions Bellevue).

O’Dougherty is the only high school coach from Washington among coaches from 14 states selected to the honor.

High school coaches from the following states were selected to lead teams at the 2013 Champion All-American Showcase: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Wisconsin, Washington.

2013 Washington state high school graduates selected to play lacrosse in the national tournament include Bainbridge High School’s Jacob Knostman (Fairfield Univ.), and Camas High School’s Jack Beall (Dominican Univ. of California).  Redmond High School’s Claire Monsaas (Gonzaga Univ. – club) was the only girl selected from Washington state.

The boys’ championship game will air live on ESPNU Friday, July 26 at 4 p.m. PT (7 p.m. ET)
