Islander Softball Pitcher Leads Issaquah Select Team to 5th Place Finish in State

Fastpitch Softball Ace Sam PIllsbury, 12, led the Issaquah Flame to a 5th place finish in the ASA state tournament last weekend.

Samantha "Sam" Pillsbury hurled 23 innings over two days leading her select Issaquah Flame team to the State Tournament Semi-Finals in the U12 State American Softball Association (ASA) Tournament last weekend in Centralia.

Sam posted a 4-0 record and an ERA of .08 facing the top teams in Washington state. In one complete game shutout performance, Pillsbury pitched a two hitter, striking out 11 with no walks. Sam is one of many island girls (Morgan Peyou, Jessica Ramseyer, Hannah Kelley, Maddie and Emily Rowe, Angelina Barokas, Natalie Wilson, Olivia Kane, Andie and McKinley Pillsbury) playing competitive ball over the summer. 

Overall, the record of the Issaquah Flame was 5-2 at the tournament, finishing 5th place out of 30 plus teams. Coached by Taia Waters and Tom Kauzlarich. The games were played on Friday through Sunday, July 6-8. They lost to a top team in state, Blaze Intensity. Sam is only MI girl.  Others include:
