Nate Pendleton, age 12, a Sammamish resident and 6th grader at the Environmental and Adventure School, is quite a runner.
Pendleton placed 11th overall out of 809 finishers at the Big Backyard 5K at Marymoor Park last Sunday.
Pendleton finished first in his age group (12 and under) with a time of 18:53--a pace time of 6:03 minutes a mile. Melissa Pendleton, said this was the speedy boy's first 5k race. Only one other youth, 15-year-old Carter Aebi, of Woodinville, finished in the top 10.
Hundreds rounded up their families and pooches, and headed out to King County’s Marymoor Park on Sunday, May 20 to participate in the 3rd annual Big Backyard 5k.
According to race organizer Bryan Beightol, the fundraiser raised almost $50,000 for King County parks.
