Sad... I've had my shop (Sisters Antiques) in the same center since 1997. We've all been throughRead More floods and threats of flooding and we all survived. Lombardi's will certainly be missed by sooo many of us! This is a big loss for Issaquah.

I was about 12 years old. We were in Centralia so while we didn't get the brunt of the 18th blast,Read More we had continuous ash fallout and one big one about a week or so after May 18. During that one, we were backpacking the Bogachiel River on the Olympic Peninsula and started getting a fine ash fallout. We drove back home with the ash getting heavier and heavier, not knowing if we were going back home to a crater. News was very sketchy and radios weren't working well. Close to home was like driving through a gray blizzard, there was no visibility. That was a scary time as a kid, and I imagine for the adults as well. School was cancelled for the remainder of the year but we had to wear face masks for a while anytime we were outside. I can still remember the distinct smell of those masks.
