Tryon's family asks that remembrances be made to the Humane Society.
Amy Tryon, of Duvall, an Olympic equestrian and retired Eastside firefighter, passed away in her sleep on April 12 at the age of 42. Tryon was a career firefighter at the Pine Lake Fire Station 81 before retiring to pursue her Olympic dreams. She represented the U.S. at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games. The presidential candidate's visit follows recent trips to Puget Sound by President Obama, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul.
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will speak in Everett on Friday in a rally to be held at the Historic Everett Theater, 2911 Colby Ave. The event, which is free and open to the public, is at 7 p.m. The rally will cap a two-day swing through the state that today sees Gingrich in Spokane and Kennewick. His Puget Sound appearances begin Friday at 9:45 a.m. when he visits the state Capitol building in Olympia. The event is not open to the public. While he is in Olympia, Gingrich's wife, Calista Gingrich, will tour the city's Evergreen Christian School. The event is not open to the public. She will read Sweet Land of Liberty to students. Services will be held at Mars Hill Church in Sammamish Saturday, Feb. 18, for Thompson, who died from a gunshot wound last weekend.
Claire Thompson, the 20-year-old Eastlake graduate who was fatally shot early Sunday morning in Redmond, will be remembered by friends and family at a service Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. at Mars Hill Church at 120 228th Ave N.E. She was a student at Seattle Central Community College and planned to transfer to the University of Hawaii to study nursing. Her family described her as a wonderful young lady with a warm heart and a dedicated love for cats and nature, as well as a passion for music and dancing. Ascentia Wine Estates executive Glenn Coogan died of a heart attack on Sept. 11.
Glenn Coogan, vice president of Northwest operations for Ascentia Wine Estates, passed away on Sept. 11 of an apparent heart attack while visiting Westport, Washington. From his Woodinville office he was in charge of operations at Washington’s Columbia Winery and Covey Run as well as Idaho’s Ste. Chapelle Winery. He was 55.
