Beaver Lake Middle School was one of the Issaquah School District’s first schools to launch a Respect andMore Responsibility program and has been a model for other District and regional youth leadership programs. Their Leadership Development class is a regional model for youth leadership programs. WASL scores in reading, writing, mathematics, and science are consistently among the highest in Washington State.</p> <p>For the last several years, Beaver Lake students have spearheaded some major humanitarian projects. One of these, the “Africa Project” included sending two 40-foot shipping containers of clothing, shoes, toys, and school supplies to Underberg, South Africa. Staff, students, and parents have traveled during the summer to present the items and document the trip for students back home.</p> <p>Beaver Lake starts classes late every Wednesday for two hours of staff collaboration.</p>

Skyline High School

Skyline High School occupies a site on the Sammamish Plateau's southern portion and serves students inMore grades nine to 12 from Sammamish and Issaquah.</p> <p>Similar to Eastlake and Eastside Catholic, the two other high schools in Sammamish, it sits off 228th Avenue and stresses academic excellence. The school graduated its first class in 1999. In October 2009, it had 1,356 students: 698 males and 658 females. The school boasts a graduation rate of nearly 97 percent.</p> <p>Skyline offers the International Baccalaureate honors program, which is open to juniors and seniors and ends with final examinations. The program requires students to write an essay and participate in a service class. Universities around the world recognize the program, which fits with Skyline's global outlook.</p> <p>Of the school's 58 teachers during the 2009-10 academic year, 72 percent had received their Master's degree, state officials reported. On average, each teacher has nearly 12 years of experience. The school's mascot are the Spartans.</p> <p>The middle schools which feed Skyline are Beaver Lake (Issaquah) and Pine Lake. Elementary students from the following schools are in the Skyline attendance area: Cascade Ridge, Challenger (Issaquah), Endeavour (Issaquah), Discovery, Creekside and Sunny Hills (where half of the students will attend Skyline).</p>
