In 2010, Margaret Mead Elementary School received a capstone Washington Achievement Award from state educationMore officials in the categories of overall excellence and science achievement. The school, named after the famous American anthropologist, recently set goals to improve reading, writing, math and science programs for its 643 students, who span from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Part of the Lake Washington School District, Mead serves families who live north and, in certain cases, south of Northeast Inglewood Hill Road and west of 228th Avenue Northeast.

Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary School offers some views of Lake Sammamish and serves neighborhoods in theMore northwestern part of Sammamish. The campus, which opened in 1998, is named after the first woman in the United States to earn her medical degree.</p> <p>It serves children from kindergarten to the 6th grade. In recent years, the campus has stressed reading, as well as daily reading and technology. In October 2009, the campus had an enrollment of 555 students with boys making up 52 percent of pupils and girls composing 48 percent.</p> <p>During the 2009-10 academic year, the teaching staff had 32 instructors. Each had an average of 13 years of experience. Nearly 69 percent of all teachers had earned their master's degrees.</p> <p>As part of the Lake Washington School District, the school feeds to Inglewood Jr. High School and Eastlake High School. The <a href="http://www.lwsd.org/Schools/District-Map/Pages/Default.aspx?mapType=El">attendance area</a> is mainly north of Bill Reams East Sammamish Park and west of Sahalee Way Northeast. The campus is west of the Sahalee Country Club.</p>
