Skyline High School

Skyline High School occupies a site on the Sammamish Plateau's southern portion and serves students inMore grades nine to 12 from Sammamish and Issaquah.</p> <p>Similar to Eastlake and Eastside Catholic, the two other high schools in Sammamish, it sits off 228th Avenue and stresses academic excellence. The school graduated its first class in 1999. In October 2009, it had 1,356 students: 698 males and 658 females. The school boasts a graduation rate of nearly 97 percent.</p> <p>Skyline offers the International Baccalaureate honors program, which is open to juniors and seniors and ends with final examinations. The program requires students to write an essay and participate in a service class. Universities around the world recognize the program, which fits with Skyline's global outlook.</p> <p>Of the school's 58 teachers during the 2009-10 academic year, 72 percent had received their Master's degree, state officials reported. On average, each teacher has nearly 12 years of experience. The school's mascot are the Spartans.</p> <p>The middle schools which feed Skyline are Beaver Lake (Issaquah) and Pine Lake. Elementary students from the following schools are in the Skyline attendance area: Cascade Ridge, Challenger (Issaquah), Endeavour (Issaquah), Discovery, Creekside and Sunny Hills (where half of the students will attend Skyline).</p>

EA2: The One-On-One Academy

Sammamish is one of three Seattle-area cities to have an EA2 (Education Advancement) tutoring office, which providesMore specialized and individual instruction to elementary, middle and high school students. The school's other offices are in Seattle and Bellevue.</p> <p>Individual instruction can come in the form of tutoring which starts at $480 per month or private classes which begin at $580 per month. Teachers can tutor students in math, science, reading and writing and help prepare students for standardized tests, including the SAT. Its private classes are designed for students who want to raise their grade point averages or earn credit. EA2 classes include physics, Spanish and calculus to name a few.</p>

Renaissance School of Art and Reasoning

Based at Eastlake High School, Renaissance School of Art and Reasoning blends visual and performing arts, as well asMore science and math, together for its 7th to 9th grade students. In addition to art, the school stresses critical thinking skills and community awareness.</p> <p>The institution is a Choice School in the Lake Washington School District. That means it is small by design and geared to meet specific academic needs and interests. Renaissance administrators even offer <a href="http://www.lwsd.org/school/rsar/About-Us/Pages/Right-Choice.aspx">advice</a> on whether a Choice School is a good fit for a student. </p> <p>The school, founded in 2006, has a maximum enrollment of 90 students. During the 2009-10 school year, 61 percent of the students were girls and 39 percent were boys. The school has six teachers, with each one having an average of nearly 10 years of experience.</p>

Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary School

Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary School offers some views of Lake Sammamish and serves neighborhoods in theMore northwestern part of Sammamish. The campus, which opened in 1998, is named after the first woman in the United States to earn her medical degree.</p> <p>It serves children from kindergarten to the 6th grade. In recent years, the campus has stressed reading, as well as daily reading and technology. In October 2009, the campus had an enrollment of 555 students with boys making up 52 percent of pupils and girls composing 48 percent.</p> <p>During the 2009-10 academic year, the teaching staff had 32 instructors. Each had an average of 13 years of experience. Nearly 69 percent of all teachers had earned their master's degrees.</p> <p>As part of the Lake Washington School District, the school feeds to Inglewood Jr. High School and Eastlake High School. The <a href="http://www.lwsd.org/Schools/District-Map/Pages/Default.aspx?mapType=El">attendance area</a> is mainly north of Bill Reams East Sammamish Park and west of Sahalee Way Northeast. The campus is west of the Sahalee Country Club.</p>

Eastlake Community Sports Fields

The Eastlake Community Sports Fields provide more than three acres of synthetic turf and sits on the campusMore of Eastlake High School, right near the football field.</p> <p>The city of Sammamish is responsible for the fields, which have lights and are ideal for soccer, softball, lacrosse and baseball throughout the year. The project was accomplished through a partnership with the Lake Washington School District.</p> <p>The city rents the fields in the evenings and on the weekends. For 2011, youth sports cost $45 per hour and adult sports cost $70 per hour. Use of the lights cost $20 per hour. There are times when the fields are open and empty. Skyline Community Fields

The Skyline Community Fields are a cooperative project between the city of Sammamish and the Issaquah SchoolMore District. The synthetic fields, ideal for soccer, softball, lacrosse, football and baseball throughout the year, are located on the Skyline High School campus.</p> <p>The fields cover four acres and opened in 2006. The fields can be rented. While youth sports cost $45 per hour, adult sports carry a charge of $70 per hour. Eastlake Senior High School

Eastlake Senior High School, which enrolls students in grades 10 to 12, is one of three high schools on theMore Sammamish Plateau. It has served residents since it opened in 1993 and is part of the Lake Washington School District.</p> <p>Students learn from a core group of teachers, who coordinate lessons in math, history, science and English. The school also has Advanced Placement, Honors and Running Start programs. Running Start lets high school students take college classes.</p> <p>In 2009, the student body was made up of 732 males and 617 females. The school's 76 teachers have an average of more than 11 years of experience. Nearly 70 percent of the teachers have received their master's degree. Wolves are the school's mascot.</p> <p>Eastlake's feeder schools are: Inglewood Jr. High School and Evergreen Jr. High School (Redmond). Students from the following elementary schools also are in the Eastlake attendance area: Louisa May Alcott (Redmond), Elizabeth Blackwell, Rachel Carson, Margaret Mead, Christa McAuliffe and Samantha Smith.</p>

Christa McAuliffe Elementary School

This K-6th elementary school honors the first teacher selected by NASA to travel as an astronaut in space. In aMore nod to Christa McAuliffe's achievements, the school also selected the Challenger space shuttle as its mascot.</p> <p>With 511 students in October 2009, McAuliffe opened nearly two decades earlier in 1990. The faculty of 35 teachers uses a team approach to help students succeed. The school has an active PTSA organization, which supports after-class programs.</p> <p>The student breakdown in 2009 was 53 percent boys and 47 percent girls. On average, each teacher brings 13 years of experience to the classroom. Administrators reported that 21 of those teachers had their master's degrees during the 2009-10 academic year.</p> <p>The school serves families in the <a href="http://www.lwsd.org/Schools/District-Map/Pages/Default.aspx?mapType=El">northern part</a> of Sammamish, primarily those living north of Northeast 19th Drive and east and northeast of Sahalee Way Northeast. The school feeds into Inglewood Jr. High School and Eastlake High School. </p>

Inglewood Junior High School

During the 2008-09 academic year, Inglewood Junior High School had about 1,100 pupils, the largest numberMore of students for any junior high school in the Lake Washington School District. School administrators have made a concerted effort to ensure that the campus has a small and welcoming feel for all students.  The school, which opened in 1991 and serves students in 7th, 8th and 9th grades, has received national recognition for its programs, according to administrators.</p> <p>In October 2009, the school had an enrollment of 1,034 students - of which 55 percent were boys and 45 percent were girls. The school has a teaching staff of 54, and 63 percent of them have earned their master's degree. Each instructor, on average, has more than a decade of experience.</p> <p>The school library reaches out to students by operating a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/inglewoodlibrary">Facebook page</a>. The mascot is the Knight. The school feeds into Eastlake High School.</p> <p>Inglewood draws its students from Sammamish's northern neighborhoods. The <a href="http://www.lwsd.org/Schools/District-Map/Pages/Default.aspx?mapType=Jr">attendance zone</a> covers the area north of Southeast 8th Street and close to state Route 202.</p> <p> </p>

Samantha Smith Elementary School

It is fitting, in a sense, that an elementary school bears the name of a girl who wrote to a Soviet leader in theMore 1980s and asked whether he wanted a war with the United States. That simple, straightforward question from Samantha Smith led to global attention on peace and the Lake Washington School District to name a school after her.</p> <p>The school was home to 550 K-6 students in October 2009. Of that number, 284 were boys and 266 were girls. The school's 31 teachers had, on average, nearly 11 years of experience and 61 percent of the faculty had master's degrees.</p> <p>While students at Smith, which opened in 1988, have done well on standardized tests, administrators are emphasizing literacy, math, science and technology programs.</p> <p>Dolphins are the school's mascots. Similar to other schools in the district, Smith's PTSA helps organize various enrichment programs, including martial arts, drama and choir.</p> <p>The school's <a href="http://www.lwsd.org/Schools/District-Map/Pages/Default.aspx?mapType=El">attendance boundaries</a> stretch from Lake Sammamish in the southwest, north of Southeast 8th Street and north along 228th Avenue Northeast. If Smith students stay in the district, they will attend Inglewood Jr. High School and Eastlake High School.</p>

Rachel Carson Elementary School

Rachel Carson Elementary School opened in 2006 and became Lake Washington School District's newest elementary schoolMore in Sammamish. The school strives to integrate academics, art, drama, music and sports into each school day.</p> <p>In October 2009, there were 560 students - evenly split between boys and girls. The school has a faculty of 29 teachers. More than 55 percent of them have earned their master's degrees. Each has about 9 years of experience.</p> <p>If Carson students stay in the Lake Washington School District, they will attend Inglewood Jr. High School and Eastlake High School. The elementary school draws students from around the intersection of 244th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 8th Street. But the <a href="http://www.lwsd.org/Schools/District-Map/Pages/Default.aspx?mapType=El">attendance boundary</a> stretches down to Southeast 8th Street. Some students come from a small area close to state Route 202.</p> <p>The mascot is the Falcon. The school has an environmentally-friendly campus and was named after Rachel Louise Carson, a writer, biologist and ecologist who was born in Pennsylvania.</p>

Eastside Catholic School

Sitting on 50 acres, Eastside Catholic School is home to about 810 middle and high school students whoMore attend class, pursue faith and play sports on a campus that opened in 2008.</p> <p>The school charts its history back to 1974, when parents dreamed of a place where students could study religion, focus on academics, become leaders and learn about service. Today, students from grades 6 to 12 can do so in buildings that provide more than 160,000 square feet of space.</p> <p>At Eastside Catholic, the student-to-teacher ratio is 15 to 1. On average, there are 21 students per class. While the high school has about 580 students, the middle school enrolls about 230 pupils. Of the 78 faculty members, more than 75 percent have earned their Master's degrees.</p> <p>A 250-person chapel is located on campus. Students can participate in sports on its lighted field or in two gyms. The school also has rooms for art, drama and music. </p>

Issaquah High School

Issaquah High School is located in the heart of Issaquah. At 100 years old, IHS is the District’s oldest highMore school, and is in one of its newest buildings.</p> <p>Issaquah High School moved into Phase 1 of a new, state-of-the-art building in fall 2010. This first phase brought 56 regular classrooms, 12 science labs, commons, athletics facilities, library, and many outstanding specialty areas. Phase II, housing a Performing Arts Center, music, art, and shop facilities opened in September 2011.</p> <p>Listed among US News’ top high schools in the nation, IHS offers rigorous curriculum in core areas including Advanced Placement (AP) programs in math, science, social studies, language arts, world languages, and computer science. IHS offers technical and vocational courses and rounds out student experiences with fine arts, visual arts, and theatre arts.</p> <p>IHS starts classes late every Wednesday for two hours of staff collaboration.</p>

Issaquah Middle School

Issaquah Middle School is home to more than 700 students in the sixth through the eighth grade. As part of theMore Issaquah School District, Issaquah Middle School serves along the I-90 corridor.</p> <p>Once known as Issaquah Junior High School, Issaquah Middle School (IMS) first opened in its current location in 1955. Following more than two years of live-in, learn-in renovation, completed in 1999, the school’s modernization is an ideal learning backdrop for students in grades 6-8.</p> <p>The IMS neighborhood includes Issaquah’s Community Center. School and neighborhood activities naturally ebb and flow between these two community resources.<br>The very active and supportive PTSA has provided numerous hours of volunteer assistance and more than $15,000 in teacher grants, scholarships and programs. Approximately 120 parent volunteers provide an adult presence on campus in the school’s <a href="http://issaquahmiddleptsa.org/Page/Program/walkabout_home">Walk-About</a> program before school and during lunches.</p> <p>About 75 percent of the school's teachers have masters degrees.
