The past seven days was full of community from top to bottom, as the saying goes. Here's a quick rundown to get you caught up.
If the past week has been a hectic one for you, here's are some of the news and events, as covered by Sammamish Patch, to get you caught up during this Memorial Day weekend. We at Sammamish Patch hope the weekend is going well. Monday: If you're a fan of The Not-Its! - a rock band that plays music for kids - have a look at their video, posted on Monday, of their May 21 performance at the Sammamish Library. At the Issaquah Relay For Life, held at Skyline High School, on May 21 and 22, Sammamish Patch contributing writer Robert Baldino learned something about his mom - who died from breast cancer - and he wrote about it. The Sammamish City Council and the two school districts that serve the city - the Issaquah School District and Lake …
Brandon McComb and Sean Klauer score second-half goals to clinch the State title at the game in Lakewood.
Brandon McComb of Eastlake High School came off the bench in the early stages of the second half on Saturday afternoon and scored the game-winning goal in the 46th minute. Sean Klauer added another goal in the 58th minute, as the Eastlake High School boys soccer squad (14-3-2) defeated Skyline (15-3-2), 2-0 , in the Class 4A state championship match at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood. The Wolves won their third state championship, following up State Titles in 1996, and 1997. For the Spartans, this was the best finish in school history for boys soccer in 2011. "This is by far one of the best feelings," McComb said. "I just had to take the opportunity when I went in, and finished it." The first half was one where Skyline had an advantage in …

Michael Stoddard's game-winning goal in the 76th minute puts Skyline in the boys soccer state title game.
Skyline High School's Michael Stoddard had a conversation with his dad before the past two soccer games. The theme: To persevere. After being involved with the play that led to a Stadium High School penalty kick late in the first half on Friday night, that conversation could not have been more prophetic. Stoddard knocked in the game-winning goal in the 76th minute to give the Skyline boys soccer squad (15-2-2) a 3-2 dramatic victory over Stadium. Stadium (15-4-0) was the defending Class 4A State Champion. The teams played in the second state semifinal at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood. "We just kept playing and were very resilient against a great Stadium team," Stoddard said. "There is a reason why they were the defending state champions…

The Wolves will likely take on Garfield in the quarterfinals on Saturday night thanks to timely goal scoring by Gerard Galvin and Brandon McComb.
Brandon McComb’s advantageous flick on goal in the 49th minute pushed the Eastlake High School (11-3-2) boys soccer team to what would end up being the game-winning goal as the Wolves beat Gig Harbor (14-3-1) 2-1. The team played in the first round of the 2011 State 4A Boys Soccer Tournament on Tuesday night at Eastlake High School. In the first half, the Wolves generated some chances against the Gig Harbor side but neither team could take advantage and break through. The teams went into halftime with a scoreless tie, as both keepers - Zack Wile for Eastlake, and Korey Durkee for Gig Harbor - were in top form. "It was a tale of two halves," Eastlake High School Head Coach Adam Gervis said. "I thought we were a little nervous early and didn…
